Listen: Designer Bodies—Last Legs New Knees

On Tuesday 10 September, 2013, Fenella Kernebone hosted the third and final talk in Object’s Designer Bodies series, Last Legs New Knees. Joining Kernebone in the round were Dr Jenny Arnold, an opthamologist and age-related macular degeneration specialist, Bert Bongers, Associate Professor and Head of the Interactivation Studio at UTS, and Chris Vanstone, the director of The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI.) The four talked for an hour on the human experience of ageing, exploring the role of design in embracing our bodies as they head towards the twilight years.

Crowdshare Sydney

After the success of BikeTank in 2011 and Groundbreaker in 2012, u.lab is embarking on their 2013 endeavour, Crowdshare Sydney.

Taking place primarily at the University of Technology, Sydney (with a couple of breakout sessions at Darling Quarter and Walsh Bay), Crowdshare Sydney explores ‘how we collectively make the city.’

Nine weeks of public panel discussions from August to October culminate in a public pitching competition, where the best ideas for city interventions will be opened up to a public vote.

In parallel, 100 UTS Masters students are ‘tackling issues of our city through tactical ‘crowdshare’ actions to test the thesis of crowdshare urbanism: can concrete action augmented with collective media create urban change?’
