Nick Mount: Glass Opening & Talk

Cynthia Colli is Object’s new Project Manager for Exhibitions and Programs, and ‘cut her PM teeth’ with the seventh showing of Living Treasures: Masters Of Australian Craft series, honouring glass artist Nick Mount.

Hi there! I’m very happy to be writing my first blog post for Object Eye, and keen to turn all the fresh impressions I received from a great Opening Weekend into pixels so you can share in my joy. I am still on a endorphin high after the Opening Night event on Friday 7th Sept, and our Artists talk the following day; after all, there aren’t many workplaces where you get to spend the second month ‘anniversary’ of your job with a brilliant celebration, honouring one of Australia’s most iconic glass artists.

Like all the other fabulous firsts I’ve experienced over the past two months, this exhibition, Nick Mount: Glass (The Fabric Of Work), has been magnificent. For those of you who, like me, are ‘green’ to glassblowing, this exhibition is a real eye opener, showing you the sensual and paradoxical material that is glass.
