National Design Policy at Vivid Ideas
Thursday June 07 2012
If you’re in, near, or visiting Sydney before June 11, head down to Circular Quay and its surrounds over the next few days. While the huge success of Vivid Live has ended, the Lights and Ideas facets of the programs continue in spectacular form — interactive 3D lightshows on the outside and stimulating sessions inside await.
Last night a few Object staff headed to the newly-renovated top of the Museum of Contemporary Art for Driving Australian Design — what a national design policy could do for designers. Put on by the Australian Design Alliance (who recently had success with a Pozible fundraising campaign) as part of Vivid Ideas, the evening featured three speakers from across the design spectrum.
CUSP, Marketing & the AdA
Tuesday May 08 2012
Object is excited to announce that the Australian Design Alliance has come on board as an Industry Partner for our creative program CUSP: Designing for the Next Decade. As part of this partnership, AdA Executive Director Lisa Cahill joined the Object team for a day planning marketing and communication ideas for the program.
Last week I joined 10 people from the fabulous Object team to design a marketing strategy for their new project. CUSP: Designing for the Next Decade kicks off in Sydney in March 2013. It will involve 12 amazing Australian designers doing groundbreaking work towards evolving a better future for us all. I’m there because the Australian Design Alliance is a partner on CUSP and Object is one of our valued associate members.
The great thing about being part of this project is that Object takes design thinking into every aspect of the work they do. Everyone at Object is involved in making this project happen — marketing, admin and curatorial staff, producers, the General Manager and Director all contributed.
Help Make A National Design Policy A Reality
Tuesday March 20 2012
The Australian Design Alliance (AdA) is the umbrella organisation representing the design sector at a national level. It is a strategic partnership of design bodies across disciplines, with His Excellency Michael Bryce AM serving as Patron.
The AdA was formed to fulfil a need for a single, strong voice to champion design as a means to realise policy objectives in a broad range of fields, from digital innovation to healthcare, and from crime prevention to environmental sustainability.
Last week, the AdA launched a campaign on Pozible, the Australian crowdfunding platform, to help fund their advocacy for a national design policy. A not for profit industry alliance, the AdA relies on your support to be able to convince our political leaders in Canberra to create and fund a national design policy — the AdA’s number one priority.
