Deinstall & Install Action In The Gallery

Just a little note to let you know that the New Weave deinstall and Resolved: Journeys In Australian Design install are going really well over at Object Gallery. Our favourite exhibition builders, Big City, have done an amazing job at getting the Resolved furniture made and have been great at working with me in getting the final details right.

Annette, the creative producer for Resolved, the installers Robert and Justin and I have been working on placement of the furniture yesterday afternoon and today – as you can imagine it’s a ‘lotta show’ for a small gallery, but it is looking really good.

Dani, our gallery attendant, is working on transforming the Project Space into the Resolved resource area, ready for viewing the videos and having a place to gather at the opening, and will also be helping the team with condition reporting the exhibition works.

Sandra, although inundated with a big Lola Greeno workload, has come over this morning to assist with photography for the install manual and the layout.

As this exhibition will be touring to seven venues nationally, it is important that the install be carefully recorded for our other venues so that they can put it all together in their spaces. To this effect the exhibition designers, Kink Studio, have developed a great furniture process where walls and exhibition spaces are built at each venue using clever latches and locking devices, and then easily demounted and packed to travel to the next venue.  Another clever innovation is the dual use of the display bases, which are actually travel ‘crates’ for the works.  Great idea!

Many hands together make these installs work, and Resolved is a great example of this.
