CUSP Deinstall

Hello from Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre where CUSP: Designing into the Next Decade is being deinstalled and packed up ready to start its national tour from the beginning of 2014.

It has been a hectic two days with many Object helpers taking photos, recording works and packing. There was a big push to get the pallets of furniture ready for pickup. The other big job was the fit out of the three travel cases that hold all the work and digital components for such an exhibition as CUSP.

What Did You Miss At CUSP?

CUSP: Designing into the Next Decade might have just closed at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre ahead of traveling the country until 2015, but if you missed out on any of the public programs, events, or the exhibition itself, you can still engage with much of what went on.

Digital Communications Intern Wanted

Object is looking for a Digital Communications Intern to join our team in Surry Hills.

The Digital Communications internship is a great way to gain experience in a broad range of digital activity from audio and visual editing, to online maintenance, writing, publishing and development. Plus you get to work with a bunch of really amazing people!

Featuring CUSP: Designing into the Next Decade designers Greg More and George Khut, alongside interactive artist Jason McDermott, the talk examined the question ‘How can hidden, complex data be used to transform our understanding of ourselves?’ Listen below to the full recording or download and listen at your leisure!

2013 Victorian Premier’s Design Awards

Entries for the 2013 Premier’s Design Awards close next Tuesday, 20 August 2013. Open for projects where the primary designer(s) is Victorian, regardless of the location of the client, entries are welcome in the categories of Architectural Design, Service Design, Industrial & Product Design, Communication Design, Digital Design, and Design Strategy.

Entries will be judged by an eminent jury of Australian and international designers, led by Victorian designer Ken Cato, AO. Judging criteria includes Design Excellence, Design Transformation, Design Impact, and Design Innovation.

Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships & Myer Innovation Fellowships

This Friday, 16 August, applications close for the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships (SMCF) for 2013. First bestowed in 2012, the SMCFs provide unrestricted grants of $80,000 per year for two years to individual artists, arts managers and thought leaders in the humanities, without the requirement of specific outcomes.

Applicants across the spectrum of the performing, visual, interdisciplinary, new media and literary arts are welcome, with consideration to arts managers and thought leaders in the humanities also given.

Applications close 16 August, so head to the Myer Foundation website for more information and to apply.

Vivid Sydney 2014 Light Expressions Of Interest Applications Open

Vivid Sydney returns to Sydney in 2014 with its three-pronged festival—Light, Music and Ideas—from 23 May to 9 June.

Hundreds of thousands of people attend the various concerts, talks, events, programs and, of course, the incredible light exhibition running a trail from the iconic Sydney Opera House sails, around Circular Quay and The Rocks, to Walsh Bay.

Vivid Sydney is currently calling for Expressions of Interest for the Light arm of Vivid Sydney. Light artists, lighting and projection designers, companies and manufacturers, architects, students, graduates, creative industry companies and practitioners from around the world are eligible to submit an EOI.

Object is on the hunt for talented graphic design students to undertake internships for 2013 & 2014.
We are looking for two interns to work on a variety of exciting projects. Internships are a minimum of 3 months long and we have two time slots available; Mid October 2013 to Mid January 2014 and from February 2014 to April 2014.
